Activities & Attractions

Due to the fact that Ogwen Bank in Bethesda lies in close proximity of the coast line, there are miles of golden sandy beaches available for your enjoyment should you decide upon visiting the seaside. There are various craggy mountains, beautiful lakes and forests located within the Snowdonia National Park, where exciting and adventurous trips await the more outgoing visitors.

Caernarfon Castle

Caernarfon castle is just a short drive away from Ogwen Bank, located at the southern end of the Menai Strait, built by Edward I in 1283.  The castle is open for visitors to have a walk and look around, with secured walls and towers in which you can explore. It is a great day out into the town of Caernarfon and the castle, and is just a short car drive away from Ogwen Bank Holiday Park and country club.

National Slate Museum

The national slate museum is a well known local attraction located in Llanberis, roughly a 25 minute drive from Bethesda. The museum is a family friendly attraction which exhibits lots of interesting displays and information about quarrying and the history of Llanberis and what involvement it has with slate. The museum is an interesting place to visit and is very popular with tourists within the area.

Keen walkers would have to look long and hard for more spectacular countryside in which to spend their days. Horse riding enthusiasts can explore the blissful Snowdonia countryside on a trusty steed – there are a number of riding and trekking centers in the area, catering for both the novice and experienced rider.

Anglers will find that, salmon, trout and sea trout can be fished for in local rivers and lakes, in season and with a permit, and sea fishing trips are available at Caernarfon, Beaumaris, Conwy and Llandudno. You can also enjoy beach casting at Dinas Dinlle, famed for its bass fishing in the surf.
